How much does it cost to level up on Steam?
Most of the bill is trading card sets (and whatever keys or gems you use to buy them). The XP math is fixed. Market prices are not. The samples below use about $0.03 per set just to give you a ballpark.
Common cost scenarios
Level 0 → 50
$4.50
15,000 XP · 150 sets
Level 0 → 100
$16.50
55,000 XP · 550 sets
Level 50 → 100
$12.00
40,000 XP · 400 sets

What drives the price
- Your XP gap. Higher levels need more XP per step, so 90 to 100 costs a lot more than 0 to 10.
- Which sets you buy. Cheap indie or F2P sets can be cents. Popular or rare sets can be dollars each.
- Timing. Big Steam sales often push card prices up because everyone is crafting for event badges.
- Currency. Traders often quote sets in TF2, CS2, or Hydra keys. The homepage calculator shows those plus gems and USD.
